Spring 2017 Spotlight is on Rolonda " Ro" Alexander-Edun

Introducing Ro (her family & volunteer background)

Rolonda Alexander-Edun, an Atlanta native, is affectionately known as “Ro”.  Ro is a graduate of Mercer University where she received a B.S. degree in Business Administration. She is currently the owner and director of an Early Child Development Center located in East Atlanta.  Ro is also the Principal Event Planner at Ro’s Red Carpet Events and Designs.

Ro is an active member of various organizations that include: Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., NCNW DeKalb Section and NCNW Life Guild.  For over 40 years, she has been a very active member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Decatur, GA.  There she serves on various church ministries such as the Welcome Ministry, the Eucharistic Ministry, the Women’s Council and the Social committee.  She is also a distinguished member of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Court 313.

Rolonda is married to Patrick Edun and is the mother of Toritse’ Edun, a first grader in Ms. Webb’s class.

Why the PTA and parent involvement are important to Ro

Having worked with children most of her life, she knows the importance of parental involvement.  Rolonda values the time she spends as a PTA volunteer at Drew because she understands the importance an active and engaged parent plays in developing children who will be lifelong learners.  Her favorite PTA sponsored activities include the Red and White Ball and the Fall Festival.

The PTA is an organization that helps to support parents, teachers and students through various educational and extracurricular activities that help build well rounded students.  Volunteering is a great way to become involved and to show your support for your child’s school.
