DREW IS PARTICIPATING IN

INTERNATIONAL WALK AND ROLL TO SCHOOL DAY

ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5th

Join students and families around the world to celebrate the benefits of walking and bicycling to school!

The PTA Health and Wellness Committee along with partners Safe Routes to School and Georgia Commute Schools will be out with extra support and goodies to encourage more families and students to walk and bike to school.

Nearly half the students at Drew live at least one mile from school but only 1 out 5 students bikes or walks to school. A quick 10-minute bike ride or a 20-minute walk can spare the air, reduce traffic congestion, and improve Drew’s overall health and wellness. (Studies show that kids who bike or walk to school show measurable improvement in tasks involving concentration and problem-solving – and that the effects last all morning!)

  • WALKING & BIKING SCHOOL BUS:
Get on the WALK & BIKE BUS!  We will meet up and walk or ride to school together in “bus” formation.  We will walk and ride to school safely, have fun, and spread joy! We will meet at 7:20 and start walking and riding at 7:30.

  • PARK N GO:
Need to drive, but want to participate? Please plan on walking to school from a designated PARK N GO locations on this map:

  • VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Volunteers are needed to ensure students and parents have a safe and fun time.  Time commitment is from 7:00-8:15 AM.

If you’ve ever needed an excuse to bike or walk to school, here’s your chance!

STUDENTS...BE SAFE, BE SEEN, AND ALWAYS WEAR YOUR HELMET WHEN RIDING YOUR BIKE!
