We are updating Walk & Roll to School to EVERY FRIDAY Starting August 29th!
It's time to Walk & Roll! Join us every Friday for the Drew Bike Bus starting August 29th.

We are pleased to announce that Walk and Roll to School will now be every Friday. After two years of promoting Walk and Roll on the first Wednesday of each month, we have shifted to a weekly schedule so more families can phave an opportunity to participate. We are modeling the program after the wildly successful Atlanta Bike Bus movement.
Sign up to participate in the Drew Bike Bus. Organizers will actively update routes and recruit route captains to make this activity safe, fun, and inclusive for all Drew families.
WHAT: A bike bus is a group of riders who travel together on bikes (or other human or electric-powered modes of transportation that are alternatives to cars) on predetermined routes, at a specified time, to a shared final destination.
WHY: To create safe, manageable routes of transportation for kids and families to build community and promote alternative modes of transportation to school.
WHEN: Every Friday morning starting August 29th! The buses will start between 7:10-7:15am (the early meet time gives families the opportunity to meet up, and for the route to have multiple stops along the way if needed). See the map below for the routes and times we used last year.
WHO: Any Drew families who want to ride to school! This includes kids and parents. Kids can ride their own bikes or ride on a bike with an adult. All participants must wear a helmet while riding. Older kids (3rd grade and up) may join the group without an adult, but we ask that younger kids (K-2nd) be accompanied by an adult that they know (parent/guardian, neighbor, friend’s parent, etc).
WHERE: We are actively update routes to give most kids at Drew access while also limiting contact to the highly trafficked roads. This can/will be tweaked based on sign ups and feedback from the Drew community. If you are not close to a current route but are interested, sign up and we will do our best to work something out or recommend a Park N Walk location where you can walk to school in five minutes. If you want to join a route but don’t have a great place to start or you don’t think your student can make it the whole way, there are some designated “Park and Ride/Walk” locations along most routes.
HOW: Participants will ride in groups with parents flanking the children with a “captain and caboose” leading the way for each route. New riders will join the group as they pass their house/street. Each route will pause at the rally points to wait for other groups to arrive before proceeding. There is a parent’s WhatsApp group that has live route tracking so you see when the groups are in your area and when they arrive at school.
